My husband has had Alzheimer's for 13 years, but is starting to have personality changes. What's next?

My husband is 85 and is probably in stage 6D.

dragonlady, is he easy to care for and get along with? Let us know a bit more about your husband and how things are. I have two friends with husbands who have had Alzheimer's for over 10 years. One of the men is a sweetheart who is easy to be around. The other is borderline insane and very unstable. The disease can affect people in such different ways. Needless to say, one of my lady friends has an easier time caring for her husband than the other one does.

Thirteen years?! If I were you I would find a place where he will receive the necessary care. No one can provide care alone for someone with dementia in the last stages and keep their own sanity and take care of themselves. It is OK to say you cannot do it any longer.
