Start a Go Fund Me page for her. Neighbors helping neighbors is your best bet for a quick response. Is she in a state where winter weather is an issue?

Check with Americans With Disabilities. They came out to the house and installed handrails leading out to the backyard and the garage and they used repurposed wood.

Check with your city to see if there are funds through a Community Development Block Grant.

Other sources to contact: your local municipality or township, your county offices, and Habitat for Humanity

My city used to get HUD grants for emergency repairs. A roof in bad shape might qualify as an emergency, especially if it's leaking. Funds came through at the beginning of the fiscal year, and sometimes there was a wait as applications were reviewed and either accepted or rejected.

I've gotten a lot of information on various sources for elder assistance from my county. The state in which I live also has an Elder Law agency with help for a variety of issues. And lastly, Habitat for Humanity has been performing chores and free work for people in need for years.

Another organization is Christmas in April, but it requires homeowners to indemnify and hold harmless its organization as a contingency of getting help.

Call the local area on aging and ask for their direction. They may be aware of other agencies in your area that assist the elderly.
