Has anyone used respite care at home through the veteran affairs?

Has anyone used Respite Care @ home through the Vet Affairs? I believe the VA will pay for 30 days respite care per year. True? And is the care 24/7 @ no cost to the patient?

In my experience, Jjariz is correct, and they don't actually provide the care, but instead contract with a local home health agency. You can get 24/7 in-facility care if needed for a limited number of days --can't remember just how many, but they are part of your original 30. And, depending on the patient's status with the VA, he/she may have a small co-pay for some of those 30 days.

Respite care is available if you qualify. But no, it's not for 30 days 24/7. The maximum is for up to 6 hours x 30 in a year. https://www.va.gov/geriatrics/guide/longtermcare/respite_care.asp#

Glad you raised this question. I wasn't aware of it but will check it out. Is the veteran already getting medical care from the VA?
