CarolRBailey, by chance are you using a whitening toothpaste or whitening mouthwash?
Why I asked was many years ago I had lost my sense of taste, and that started to freak me out as to why that was happening.
I traced back to when I was first noticing the lack of taste and it was a couple of weeks after I started using a whitening toothpaste. I stopped using that toothpaste immediately and after a couple of weeks my taste buds were working once again... whew.
Although you can't reverse age-related loss of taste and smell, some causes of impaired taste and smell are treatable. For example, your doctor might adjust your medications if they're contributing to the problem. Many nasal and sinus conditions and dental problems can be treated as well.Nov 11, 2014
