How do other family members handle their elderly parent's refusal to cooperate with getting to the toilet for number 2?

my stepmom finally had enough and made my dad clean up his mess. Wash out his clothes, do his laundry, scrub and clean the carpet, floor, where ever the mess was made. After a VERY short time - he started getting to the toilet on time.

Do you have a portable one or are you referring to the bathroom? Only thing I could think of is a portable toilet near their bed or wherever. I unfortunately have limited knowledge being only 25. But, I hope it helps since I obviously don't know your situation
