My mother recently checked out with no physical signs of trouble. Mentally she is violent, irrational and delusional. How can I help her?

She is angry. She is delusional. She can't make sense of anything. She is paranoid. Forgetful and getting in trouble with the law. Can there be something physical that they are missing. Is this dementia. Is this just mental illness. HELP!

The first thing is have her doctor check her for urinary tract infection. These can actually make older people psychotic. If there is no infection, get her under the care of a geriatric specialist and see about a referral to a geriatric psychiatrist. The latter don't usually do therapy, but work with different medications until they find what makes you mother comfortable and helps with the behavior problems. I hope you can find something to help her and the family.
