I am POA for my mother, but my estranged brother got her to sign POA jointly. What damage can he do?

I am POA since 2011 for my 93 year old now, dying mother. My estranged brother got her to sign POA jointly. He pressured her, lawyer says as she wants us all 'to know about her affairs" and "He is the eldest son." She wants peace and harmony! He has been non-resident for 50 years and seldom visits. (except now! Property is valuable.) Our relationship is acrimonious and he threatened elder abuse ("no food, no clothes, no support") to her lawyer. I spend weekends in her own home with her and she has full time nursing care. He threatens "I'm way ahead of you!" What are the risks, damage he can do? Sell house without my consent??

Seeing a lawyer this week, and capacity assessment booked next week..her lawyer says its an underhanded trick..and can no longer represent me as her POA as he represents my mother. Refuses to take brother's calls. Brother says I don't provide info, but he doesn't ask and doesn't respond to texts. He spoke to insurer, doctors etc. when he didn't have POA, so trying to figure out his agenda. Thought the system would prevent him from making off with the profits, so why worry and cause more rift in the family whom he is alienating against me. Thanks.

Yes. He can do all the things you could have or could still do. Perhaps you should file for guardianship. At the very least, talk to an attorney of your own.
