How long does a bank have to release funds after parents passed?

my parents passed away and left me a cash gift . to be paid out with the creditors the bank now has all the court orders to release funds how long will i have to wait

Your lawyer should answer this question. I am assuming he is executor of the will. It takes a while for probate. All creditors have to be notified and prove amts owed. They get paid first. Then those who inherit.

My suggestion is to call Wells Fargo customer service. Here is their number - 1 (800) 869-3557 or call lawyer that is waiting on the check. Surely he has handled this type of situation before and can give you an estimate on the number of days that the bank has to respond. The lawyer is waiting to get paid as well. Sorry I can't offer any other advice.

The bank may be obligated to pay creditors first before releasing the funds. My thoughts would be to go to the bank and talk with the bookkeepers there.

I don't know the answer to your question Martin. It's actually somewhat unclear what you're asking.

Are you saying that your parents left you money in their will, but there are other creditors who have to be paid?
