My sister took my mother with Alzheimer's to the bank to withdraw money. How can I find out what happened to the money?

My sister took my mother to the bank and had her withdraw money from an account in the form of a check. My mother has Alzheimer's and does not remember doing this. I have no idea where the money went. How can I find out what happened to the money?

I have financial power of attorney and when looking at the banking online noticed an account was not there, so I went to the bank and they told me it had been closed and a check issued to my mother. She has no recollection of it. The bank is investigating for me and hopefully the check will be cashed and I will see what bank cashed it and that will give me the information I need. My sister is not to be trusted.

Anette, who is the financial Power of Attorney for your Mom? Usually the financial POA handles all the banking, bill paying, etc. for someone who is no longer able to do those things.
