Can a woman whose husband with dementia has become violent, force him into a nursing home?

Can a women, legal guardian, whose husband is suffering from mild, moderate dementia force him into a nusing home? He has become violent. They are 87 and 88 yo. He recently had her go to ER with laceration across clavicle, stitches needed, and head bump. Hospital released him back home.

I agree about using the Baker act (or whatever it is called in their state) to have the violent man evaluated.

She needs to Baker Act him which will force a 72 hour psychiatric hold on him during which he will be evaluated and potentially given further treatment. During this treatment he will be properly medicated to deal with the violence. A geriatric psychiatrist at a psychiatric hospital will be a godsend.

A nursing home will not likely take a violent patient...and if he is taken into a nursing home and then acts violent he can be evicted.

The right answer is proper medication protocol and psychiatric care.
