For the past week my grandmother has been really bored. She walks in circles around the house. Is this another step to her dementia?

When given something to do it last maybe 5 minutes. It's to the point I want to pull my hair out. She use to read her paper for 2 to 3 hours, then play cards, watch tv. Now she follows me around the house saying she is board. Please is this another step to her dementia because it's driving me crazy?

Kerry, that would drive me nuts! Do you think your grandma would agree to going to a senior center for day care? They have organized activities but the person also has the choice to just watch tv or even nap. The ones we looked at were flexible with how much time the elder could spend there.

We did not see a big shift like that, but my grandpa would get very clingy in the evenings as part of the sundowner's stuff. Sometimes he would get like that with a UTI too. (There should probably just be an automated Agingcare response to every post that says "Check for UTI.")

Kerry, I came across this article here on Aging Care that I hope will be helpful for you and your grandmother. It has to do with boredom.
