Mom has recurring UTIs and I heard that it is an old remedy to boil corn silk and drink it as a tea. Has anyone done this?

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has heard of this. I give my dad pure cranberry juice (which he hates) and that does, I know for certain, ward off UTIs. It may have saved his life a year ago when his catheter wasn't changed for 8 months. Other than the 100% cranberry juice, which kills bacteria in the bladder due to its acidity, I'd be happy to learn of a new treatment... so this is a bookmark comment.  :)
