Since the reporter of elder abuse is supposed to remain confidential, how exactly can someone fight against such an allegation?

Thanks for the answers and I apologize for having posted the same type of question on more than one page. It's just that we're SO upset and frustrated over this that we're beside ourselves. Neither one of us (me and Mom) feel that she's been neglected in ANY way and, hopefully, the investigators will come to the same conclusion. Thanks again for your help!

I see you've posted this question in several areas of the site. I think at this point, if you've been accused, the best thing to do is focus on the WHAT, not the WHO. I know it's in our nature to want to know who is accusing us, so we can confront them about it, but in this situation, you're probably never going to know.

The best thing you can do now is deal with the accusation and ensuing questions from APS or whatever authorities are involved. Be honest and provide as much detail as possible, and be polite and helpful to the investigators.

I don't think they are required to give out that info. It could have been done anonymously as well.

You don't need to know who is accusing you. If someone claims, for example, that the person you are caring for is left to sit in wet Depends all day, APS is required to investigate that claim. If they have reason to think it might be true they will investigate further. But if it clearly is not the case, they just close the case. How would it matter who made the accusation?
