The home health agency is discharging Mom even though she is a fall risk and her pain is worse.

Mom is getting in home hospice care based on her congestive heart failure diagnosis. Everyone is treating her well. What a blessing!

Mom lives with me in a house we rent. She has had in home health care for several years. Her osteoarthritis is getting worse. I worry about her hip breaking at some point. We may have to find a caregiver to come in part time so I can get out and work again.

I don't know much about PT and OT requirements. I was told by my LO's doctor once that no need to continue PT if no progress is being made. Do they know the reason for her continued pain? I'd try to address that. PT can be very painful. I went through it once and I'm no senior.

I'd consider what her needs are now for care. Is she able to live alone in the home? If not, I'd get an assessment to see what level of care that she does need. I'd focus on where she might get that. Nursing homes are one option. There isn't anything scary about the ones that I have seen. The Assisted Living facilities are pretty good too, based on my experience. And then there is getting inhome care to come into her home. I'd explore all the options. What does your mom want to do? Does she realize her needs and risks?

I noticed that you commented about what "we" could afford. It's actually her income and assets that are considered. You might explore if she is able to afford private pay or not, what she qualifies for in your state, based on income, assets and need, according to a doctor.
