How to find the value of a stock at death?

I don't have the statements from that time. Tried to look at NY stock exchange website. Didn't see place to search old values. Looked up old copy of Washington Post newspaper online. But the date said there was nothing to pull up. There had to be newspaper printed that day. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hadnuff, by chance was the stock held by a financial institute? If yes, you can call and ask what was the value of the stock on whatever date.

If there was no Broker, then go on the internet to marketwatch/tools/quotes/historical.asp.... it will ask you for the name of the stock and the date you wish to use. If the website gets scrubbed go to the internet and ask "historical stock prices" and look for Market Watch.

Oops, I see Pam was thinking the same thing I was :)
