Father/husband is in his early 80's and his wife has had a stroke and needs constant care. What are the options?

The father/husband is providing constant care but he needs help.

If she just got out of the hospital, Medicare covers visiting nurses services for up to 60 days. Look into that.

The father/husband can contact a caregiving Agency to come in to help. The cost varies from area to area, could be $15 per hour up to $30 per hour. Agencies are licensed, insured, bonded and have workman's comp. The first caregiver could be a perfect fit, or you can request others until you find the right match for your wife.

Another idea is if his wife is on Medicaid. Depending on what programs are available, Medicaid could send in an Aide for a couple of hours a day to help out.

Also have him contact is local Agency on Aging to see what programs they have available. Meals on Wheels would be helpful for they supply a meal a day for elders who are shut-ins.
