Should I get a sensor for wandering or put a lock on the door?

I am not sure about putting a lock on the door to prevent wandering. It is a metal, hollow door. I have been looking at motion sensors--but worry that since we live in a building of condos, it might go off even with people walking outside by the door. My husband, as yet, has not wandered...but trying to be pro-active.

The other thing you can try is disguising the door to look like a window---put a curtain on it and paint it to match the walls. Make it "invisible"

Then ask a locksmith about alarms that ring when the door is opened. They can be buzzers, chimes or beeps.

Yes- I know that...but not sure my husband will wear the band. I can not get him to wear medic alert or an ID. Please he worked in the prison system his whole life-might remind...ha ha of something else.

Clinton County and SUNY's Third Age Adult Center are providing tracking bracelets for those at risk for wandering. Call them.
