Can a nursing facility wait four months before investigating an alleged abuse case?

How soon does a nursing facility have to investigate an allegation? Can a nursing facility wait four months before investigating an alleged abuse case? I do not want to give details however it is only alleged and did not happen. Do cna's have any support if the alleged abuse is not true or do the residents have all the rights?

They investigate immediately and report to the state. The state decides whether or not to prosecute. If you have a union, ask the steward to find out what the result was.
