Is it possible to place a person that you are a caregiver to in a nursing home for up to a month?

Or any amount of time? My Mom is 83 and has Alzheimer's. We are in need of a much needed vacation. I'm looking for a nursing facility that I can place her for up to a month. She needs help with all of her ADLs. She uses the bathroom and can still do a lot of things.....just needs reminded and helped/

You can also look to assisted homes, some specialize in Alzheimer's care, offer respite care for a week or month as needed. They are typically less expensive than nursing homes, but be wary to thoroughly research the place first. Visit it unexpectedly, get a feel for the staff. Too many such places prefer to drug up and ignore your loved one, but there are good assisted homes out there.

You call all your local nursing homes and tell them that you are looking for Respite care.
