Can an attorney on probation make a draft for a will?

 Or charge me for it?

pamstegma Apr 2016
Sure he can, he just can't charge you for it.

This is really a good question, since you don't really have to be an attorney to write and file a will. The problem seems like it would really be all on his side and if he has the present ability to legally charge for his services.

Woody, check the state bar association for whatever state you live in. Search for Attorney Grievance Board, then list of attorneys who've been subject to grievances filed against them. If you can't get any more information online, then call the Grievance Board and ask as FF has suggested.

You need to find out more NOW before you go any farther with this attorney.

There have been abuses by attorneys in practice areas which lead to holding escrows or managing estates for clients. Some attorneys have put greedy hands into the client's cookie jars.

Before you provide any information or pay anything at all to this attorney, you need to do a background investigation.

We need more information. Such as, is the Attorney's license suspended to conduct legal business?
