Where can I find a stair safety gate for an elderly person (not for babies)?

I need a gate at the top of my stairs so that my 92 year old father does not accidently fall down the stairs as he walks down the hall upstairs at night. All I am finding are gates for infants and toddlers or pets. Anyone got any resources?
