When do I take away my mother's debit card?

She keeps ordering worthless things and entering sweepstakes!!

a lot of people young and old spend friviously . id think the finances would have to be approaching catastrophic for a judge to let someone take over an elders finances . its their money to waste of course unless its insanity grade losses being created .

How about "misplacing" the card? Since it's LOST, she can't use it for a little bit of time.

Does she know how to get a replacement card? Hopefully not.

Do you have any access to the mailbox? You could watch for it in the next 7 -10 working days and "dissappear" it ... poof!

Cannot order....... she'll be mad. Okay, pretend that those places only take a method of payment SHE HATES OR CANNOT DO.

Gotta get crafty without breaking the law.

tacy022, I have met some social workers who are complete idiots. A competent person does not run up huge debt on knick knacks from QVC and send money to charity while the water bill goes unpaid and the property tax bill is hidden so nobody sees it.
When you see this happening, you seek Guardian status.

NOW. Do a credit check on her too. Then check the banking to see if she is skipping things like taxes and water bills. Mom would take bills she didn't like and put them in the paid file without paying them.

The answer is "right now".... unless she is independently wealthy and can afford to to this on a regular basis.
