My father can no longer care for his wife that has end stage cancer. What can he do?

She is on HOSPICE.

It sounds to me like it's time to have dad assign you to be his poa ( if you aren't already) and remove him from the premises. That should force son's hand.

What doe the hospice social worker have to say about this? Have you discussed this? Does dad have an elder care attorney?

Nothing he can do this late in the game. Estate planning should have been done at least five years ago. Obviously he has the money, but you and the POA are looking for a way to keep it yourselves. At this point, if APS found them in their current state, the POA would go to jail for neglect/abuse. Get off the fence and take care of them or hire people who will.

They both live in their home. she has end stage cancer. and refuses to go into a nursing home He just got done with chemo and radiation for throat cancer. He cant afford to put her in a home and cant phyicaly take care of her. her son Has a POA and is not willing to get her a miller trust so she can get Medicaid to place her in a home. he thinks my dad and hospice can take care of her. What can he do so he is not responsible for her care?

If I understand correctly, your mother has cancer, as does your father, for whom you're caring? And your father lives at home? Are the three of you living together, or is Mom in hospice at a facility?

If the latter, I would think his role wouldn't be full time carer, but rather as a visitor. If Mom is in hospice at home, he probably feels more obligation to take care of her and is overwhelmed if he has cancer himself.

If she's at home, would you be comfortable having her receive hospice care at a facility, and you and your father can visit her rather than provide full time care?

Does the hospice organization have a facility that she can be moved to? Can you help him get her into a nursing facility? Talk to the Hospice organization; they should be able to help!
