When is it time to get power of attorney?

My fathers health is decreasing. I see signs of memory loss. He's nor maintaining his home. (I've cleaned mold several times). He's mean to me and I'm burnt out. He says he has no will. I've relocated to be closer to him. Idk. Help

Pam is right, because of your Dad's memory loss he may not be able to assign a Power of Attorney.

This is a lesson learned, time for you to have your own Power of Attorney for yourself while you can assign someone, if you don't already.

Too late for POA. See an attorney and get Guardian status if you can handle him. If you are burned out, step back and let Social Services take over. They can check his welfare. At least you are not responsible if you are not POA or Guardian.
