My brother has been in an assisted living facility for 2 years. He is diabetic and has been ordering and administering his own medications.

He is 65 and on medicare along with Care Plus insurance so meds are free.
Facility was just bought out and they are forcing us to use their pharmacy which his insurance doesn't honor. How can this be legal to force this on a resident for additional money we cannot afford. Please help us

Sisterly, if the Assisted Living is now under new ownership, one has to abide by the terms of that new ownership.

I know when my Dad entered into IL/AL, it was in writing that in the future he could be using the facility sponsored pharmacy. When that happens, then Dad will cancel his separate pharmacy insurance that he is currently using.

Call your state health department and find out if this is true or false.
