What proof do courts need for caregiver to family member?

I live with my sister as caregiver for her, she has epilepsy. I am doing it in exchange for room and board. what proof is needed to qualify for work release if I am given jail time?

Clarification: I assumed when you mentioned "work release" that you're familiar with the criminal justice system and this isn't your first involvement. If that's an erroneous assumption, then you wouldn't have a parole officer and would need to talk to your attorney, which I assume you have.

You need to talk to your parole officer about this. I would imagine it varies from state to state as well as the charges, which apparently are still pending, and whether they're misdemeanors or felonies, nonviolent or violent, and whether you're a first time or repeat offender.

I'm guessing it would also depend on the jurisdiction as well as the prosecuting attorney and the judge. What level court were the charges filed....district court, circuit court, federal district court?
