Does the VA verify net worth reported for Aid and Attendance Pension, or is eligibility determined strictly by the application answers?

I'd be filling out the application and don't have access to all of my dad's financial information. And his self-reporting of assets will likely be sorta "guesswork".

VA verifies through contact with the IRS. You can count on that.

I can't speak to how eligibility is determined for A &A as I've read a lot of varying and conflicting information, but if income is an issue, expect the VA to be in contact with the IRS.

That happened to us several years ago when the VA allegedly found an anomaly, which it wouldn't describe. However, it did ask for complete documentation on EVERYTHING - medical bills, pharmacy receipts, the whole 9 yards. The copying costs alone would have been huge, let alone the expenditure of time.

The VA had already had 2 major security breaches, the VA PCP arbitrarily changed a cardiac med and charged Dad for it, refusing to take the improperly prescribed med back. It was about time to say au revoir to the VA, which I did.
