Medicare will pay only if he makes progress. In as little as a few days, the PT team may determine he cannot make progress and he will need long term care. Talk to your health insurance company asap and see what they will cover. For our mom, there was 20 days of Medicare, then 70 days at $100 a day and after that she paid the whole nursing home bill at $13,000 a month.
