My Mom tell's me she "hates" everything about her new ALF but is nice to all the caregivers etc. Is this normal?

When it comes to dementia, I expect all sorts of things now. You might be told that her doctor is sleeping on the couch in their sitting room or that they went riding on a horse to the doctor's office. I learned to examine comments appropriately, to ensure that there isn't something wrong that needs addressing, but normally, the comments are based on the brain working improperly. She may progress to where she loves the place. I've seen that happen too.

I'd be glad that she is nice to the caregivers. That might indicate that they are also nice to her.

She might be annoyed or angry with you for the move and is trying to make you feel bad for placing her in AL. Has she said she wants to come home?

Why the change? What sort of things is she finding to beef about?

Brown2749 Sep 2015
She just moved in 3 days ago but said the same thing at the last place she was at for over a year....

Yes. She's being polite. How long has she been there, and what are her reservations?
