My Mother has Medicare in Puerto Rico, can she switch it to the Nebraska state?

Switching to our state since she is going to move here.

Vic - there could be bilingual / translation issues. If mom is going to need any of her charts forwarded, they may need to be translated and you want this done in PR and you bring it with her. Also you want to try to get all her refills done to the max before she comes to the US, be sure to leave all in their original containers too. Drug costs in PR are going to be lower, like lots lower, so if mom has a copay doing this helps save a bit. And ask the PR pharmacy to do a sheet for all RX 's and translated into English too. If mom has beauty or drug store Hispanic market stuff she just loves, may not be easy to find in NE, so get them in PR.

MediCARE will transfer with her once she notifies medicare.gov.
MediCAID - low income assistance - is done by each state and must be applied for again and qualifications are different in each state. MediCAID will not transfer automatically to Nebraska once she moves. She will have to apply again.
