How do you know when it's time to place a loved one?

diagnosed with dementia 6 years ago. No short term memory. Loses things all the time and get really confused. Puts things where I can't find them. Gets agitated very easily and is angry with me and uses foul language at times.
What can I do?

Tric6748, the time to place a loved one into a higher level of continuing care is when YOU can no longer take care of the person, that you are burnt out, and your own health is at risk due to the stress and lack of sleep.

If you don't already, you could try hiring a professional caregiver who is familiar with this stage of dementia, that is if the love one will accept someone else helping you out.

Is he on any meds that might help him be calmer and less agitated?
