Does suffering a heart attack influence the mental stability of patients with Alzheimer's disease?

Is the mental process impacted by the body's recovery from a heart attack? Do patients experience an expedited decline in mental acuity? Is there no change in the cognitive processes of patients with Alzheimer's who have suffered a heart attack?

Heart attacks can affect the brain. If they are severe enough that the brain goes without oxygen, a heart attack can cause brain death. How severe was the heart attack? Did the brain go without oxygen? If there was need for surgery, this could also step up the progression of dementia, either temporarily or permanently.

Are you caring for someone with dementia who recently had a heart attack. Since the heart pumps the blood which carries oxygen and nutrients, as well as clears metabolic waste products, any failure of the heart has a harmful effect on the brain and other organs.

Are you sure it is Alzheimer's and not vascular dementia?

Mom suffeerd a seizsure. I feel it did cause a decline.... I think anything major like a heart attack could actually affect the brain. Was the the person in hospital and getting any kind of medication? Being in a hospital could cause stress. Im not an expert, but my answer is yes, , I think it could cause a decline of some sort.
