How can I advise my wife about her parents desperate financial situation?

Both parents require 24 hr care. Her father spent 6 month in a nursing home. After a stroke her mother has been dependent due to Lewis Body Dementia for the last 3-4 years. They do not qualify for Medicare because of a gifted house to her brother. Now Dad is coming home AMA meaning he probably won' t be eligible for any home assistance and all their liquid assets have already been spent. My wife is therefore the only caregiver for BOTH parents as her brother and sister are unable/ unwilling to assist. I am so frightened for the 3 of them. PLEAE can anyone offer some solution?

Kansas is a filial responsibility law state, in which case I would write an appeal to the State Attorney General for help encouraging the gifted children to abide by the law and provide support.

If there was a 'gifted house" to brother would he not be somehow resonsible for helping out here?

Has your wife spoken to the social worker at the hospital? Do they have any suggestions?

Why is he coming home AMA? It's Medicaid that they are not eligible for, Medicare is not dependent upon assets.
