I am a retired nursing home administrator. First, you need to realize that no one can advocate for your father better than you, so take the bull by the horns and be proactive throughout you father's care experience. You should call the facility and ask for the admissions director to schedule a mtg. Different facilities handle admissions differently. Some will go to the hospital to see the patient or visit the prospective resident at home as part of the process, but often the hospital needs a response from the nursing home quickly and there is no time to get there. But with many cases the hospital can provide enough documentation for the home to make an informed decision without a face t face evaluation. If you think there is something that may be missed without a face to face, then I would suggest you mention your concern to the admissions person. If your father is at home and there is no emergency, then they should be able to fit a home visit in. Hope this helps.

it was approved in 3 months. They had transferred ownership of their house 9 years before to my sister with a Life Estate for them.
