Can I get paid to be her caregiver?

I have had to give up my job to take care of my mom after Open Heart Surgery. It has been 5 weeks since the surgery and she is still not eating enough to keep an infant healthy. I cant leave the house. We cannot afford to hire anyone to come in while I work so I have had to stop working.
Does anyone know of a program in California. I have heard of people being paid $10. per hour to care for a parent. Even though that is not enough, it would help so much.

Cowgirl, curious why your Mother isn't in a rehab facility learning to regain her strength?

You get her on Medi-Cal and you get yourself back to work or you will not have any SS when the time comes for your own retirement. Good Grief I would have gotten her to a good cardiac rehab facility so she can get PT and whatever else she needs. Ask her MD what solutions are possible.
