cinbin time frames at best are an estimate and frequently wrong when given by a Dr who doesn't want to believe they are not curing their patient or can not face telling the patient and family the truth. You absolutely did the right thing asking hospice for a consult. it sounds a though your mom is ready but probably not yet on her death bed but things can change in an instance which is the reson so many people feel hospice hastened the loved ones death when they die within a couple of days of admission. they were going to die anyway it is a co-incidence. patient's often die during the actual admission or that night even before hospice had even put their hands on them.
Jeannie is absolutely correct in her observations. There are good and bad everywhere and having a loved one die is a very traumatic experience so it is common to try and find someone to blame.

thank you EaseLiving,I agree,I made the call today

In my experience people often wait too long to get hospice involved. They can be so helpful and offer so much support. Call one of your local agencies and ask for a consult. They will be glad to talk to you and answer any questions.

Does her doctor have any idea how much longer she might have?
