If my Mom saved towards her funeral expenses would my sister have a claim on half of it?
My mothers saved towards her funeral expenses...she only has that money saved nothing else...£3,500. Now when my mother passes away would my sister have a claim on half that money or would it be only used for my mums funeral...Brian.
After your mom dies her estate would have to pay any taxes and outstanding debts before the beneficiaries receive anything. If the funeral cost is charged to the estate then that bill must be paid first.
Your mother's funeral is part of her final expenses. The bill must be paid. Surely, your sis isn't wanting to hit the bank before mom is buried. When her estate is settled, that's when heirs can make their move. Good luck with this.
