A friend has been sent home from hospital with no instruction on what to eat or what food needs to be prepared. Advice?

The issue is a very bad hieatial hernia and she does not want a feeding tube and surgery is too risky. How do foods need to be prepared and what is safe to eat?
What she eats seems to be getting in the lungs. A liquid died was all that was recommended. There must be some way she can modify and prepare foods that are safer to eat. About all they said was no skins or course fiber..Where do I look for assistance in modifying food preparation to add a safer level to foods backing up into the lungs and continue to help her live a more normal life and still get at least the flavor and taste of food, but make is safer.

Call the doctor on Monday and ask for him/her to recommend a dietitian who can help your friend set up a menu.
