I have a sister with Bipolar /schizo. She is on SSI and has a special needs trust. Is caregiving service allowed with the SNT funds?
She has to move in with me and I work all day as a caregiver. I need to hire a caregiver to watch her while I am gone. I understand housing isn't allowable exp. from the trust acct. but, is caregiver exp. allowed?
You would have to read the terms of the trust papers, but I sincerely doubt the Trustees would allow payment to a sibling. Same with Medicaid, they don't pay live in relatives. She would be better off in a group home. My sister likes hers mainly for the company of peers.
