My Mom (76) she is meeting men on websites Ourtime and Match. What do I do?

My mom is 76 can't drive, has daily caretakers, and can hardly get around, but she is meeting men on Ourtime.com and Match.com. I found the e-mails by accident trying to update her phone. She is mostly competent, but does not get around hardly at all, she still is in her home, with help from myself and caretakers from 8 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. so why did she create a profile and is flirting and chatting and e-mailing men she cannot possibly date. My husband is worried about her being taken advantage of financially, and said we need to keep an eye on her bank account. I did not discuss this with her yet because I am not sure really what to say? Any advice?

Back a half century ago many women didn't drive at all, even at a young age, but they were able to have gentlemen callers who were courting them. I see nothing wrong if your Mom is seeking companionship of someone from her own age group. Yes, she has to be careful to make sure these men are really who they say they are. And that her own profile is also truthful, too.

Is there a senior center nearby that you can take her so that she can be with others of her generation, and possibly meet someone there. That would be much safer, in my opinion.

If you're going online in front of her you could just casually shake your head and tut-tut over how many scams and con artists there are out there, and has she kept up to date on the latest advice on personal security - my goodness, one has to be so careful..! Etc etc etc

But don't spoil her fun, or embarrass her by saying "you are so rumbled!" She's having a good time. As long as it's light and she's enjoying it, let her. Just keep an eye to make sure that nothing happens in the real world of account numbers or personal, physical contact details.
