My Mom is not supposed to be alone in her apartment. She has dementia. plain evil-ness and she fired her caretaker! Whom shall we report too?

My mother has also been extremely hateful now that she has dementia a million times worse..she fired her caretaker..poor girl called us to report mom's behavioral issues..how can we get her confined to a nursing home before something tragic happens? she is very combative! we will be contacting APS but something must be done to protect her NOW! Thanks

Ditto. Boochie, I am sorry this problem hangs over your head.

Guardianship involves conservatorship (depends on the state) of (1) the person who is the vulnerable elderly or disabled person and (2) the person's Estate.

I wish you well on your journey. Do it now, do not wait. Hip fractures hurt. Or any injury from a fall.

If your mother had a caregiver who was paid......where is the social worker in all of this? Consider the firm who provided her previous caregiver (and probably took care of payroll, workman's comp, W2 tax withholding). Maybe there is an Ombudsman you can find out the actual facts (motive for your mom's decision in discharging her caregiver?) But pamstegman is right: easier road ahead for your mother getting the BEST care with you obtaining guardianship/conservatorship. Start reading online NOW for whatever your mom's home state requires, because you will need documentation and evidence. Good luck!

You file for Guardianship and get the Judge to approve the move.
