Mom poured a cup of detergent down the lint drawer on the dryer. What should I do?

Is it safe to use? The drawer is long and deep..I reached as far down in there as I could. We have visitors coming tomorrow and I need to dry some towels and sheets and such. I don't want to burn the house down either! What should I do?

freqflyer, that's what am afraid of, it drying up and making a gum out of the lint and the detergent...and then catching fire..

Was the detergent liquid or powder? If powder, maybe you can vacuum out what you can. If liquid, it will eventually gum up... I would call the hot line for the maker of the dryer and ask them what is the best thing to do.

Isn't it always Murphy's Law any time you have company coming that an appliance, big or small, will break down over the weekend :0

Detergent won't burn. Just run the dryer.
