Grabby neighbor. Any advice?

I worked in the medical field in all aspects , including dementia and alzheimer's..doesn't change our grabby neighbor..yesterday I was walking our rescue dog,on his harness, on the sidewalk, he was not bothering anyone or anything. But our neighbor was out shoveling our 1/2 inch snow we got..we walked by and the neighbor came charging with his shovel ready to strike the dog with it..I kept going and went into the house my emotions in over drive..I was ready to drive off into the sunset..these things keep happening. His wife just doesn't communicate much and when I do see her he is over shadowing her every move so I cannot talk to her in private..my husband said I should have called the cops..any ideas folks I have run out of approaches..nothing works anymore..

LOL Ashlynne - me too. I like pamstegman's idea. Start documenting, even if it seems trivial. any information is helpful when presented by the police. I hate bullies, whether they are bullying a person or an animal.

Anyone touched one of my dogs I'd go into a kind of crazy that would make their worst nightmare seem like a happy, place!

Yes, call the cops, he is a public menace. If he will strike an animal, he will hit a child on a bike, the mailman, even you. Fill out a written deposition of the events with dates and times. This will assist the police and social services in getting him to a safe place. Sign it and deliver it to the PD.

I'd just walk in the opposite direction. My cousin has a neighbor who taunts her rescue dog. He's a belligerent drunk with a wife who's also under the husband's thumb. So my cousin avoids him and his area at all costs. She actually got a taller fence on his side, so he couldn't see her dog. I'd do the same. It's too bad that a "good" neighbor has to live like that, but it's not worth the aggravation unless he does more to encroach on you or your territory. Then I'd call the police.
