Is it possible to have a stroke and have bad speech but not have aphasia?

What do you call a condition that leaves the person with a drunk sounding voice, but used correct words and can read and write and has full control of everything except words never sound normal? I've heard Velopharyngeal Incompetence, brain tumor and brain aneurism. What cold have caused this and is their a name for it?

If this is about your husband in a nursing home who is a vet (VA), talk to the doctor who is attending his care. The tongue and tonsil cancer issues affect speech. You said he is on a feeding tube, so I assume he cannot swallow. He is declining, you could ask about Hospice care.
