I was told to prepare for my Dad's funeral by social worker from Davita. Is there any help from county that we could apply?

An Obituary must be composed, listing relatives and life achievements, so you need to do that. If dad has a grave plot, find the deed or call the cemetery for the plot number. Figure out what family members need to be notified and make a list. If he had a Will, find that. Find Life Insurance policies, if any. If he owns a house, get a lawyer to find out if you can sell it, or if Medicaid recovers it. Lots to do.

Aw, phooey...first of all, so sorry you and Dad are going through this, but second of all - why didn't the social worker give you a few leads? One thing you are allowed to do is get a life insurance policy that is really a burial policy that you pay into. But I would not know of specifics at all, or what provision would be made by the county or the state if there is no time for saving up for that...and I hope she didn't mean she thought his time was very limited...
