My parents are moving in with me so I can care for them...where do I start to look to see if I can be paid for their care?

I live in Washington state.

Is your father a veteran?

A quick search turned up http://www.altsa.dshs.wa.gov/pubinfo/housing/inhome/ on google for me. If your parents qualify for Medicaid or Medicare, I believe they are the ones who pay for the care.

In Colorado, family is only paid for 37 hours a month no matter how much you actually work. Hopefully the Washington laws are more on your side. Best of luck!

Make an appointment with your local Medicaid office and ask them. They will know and you can also consult an elder law attorney. They can help you put together a contract if your parents can afford to pay you. If they are on Medicaid then check with their office to find out if you can be paid through the state.
