I think my mother needs a guardian, what do I need to do?

my mother is 81 and is in poor health she sleeps all the time wont cook her own meals she thinks her sister needs to bring them to her bed side because she dont want to get up she borrows money for food but spends it on plants, she wont make a will out ect. not sure if bills are getting paid ect. what can i do

You need to contact a probate attorney and determine if there is cause to file a petition for conservatorship with the probate court. You will need to convince the court that your mother lacks the capacity to exercise sound judgment in regard to her personal care and or her finances. If your mother is still mentally competent, you might want to explore getting her to appoint you as her agent under a durable power of attorney. That would enable you to make sure her bills are getting paid and that she is receiving appropriate care.

You say that she expects her sister to bring food to her, so does that mean they live together?
