Hospital discharged mom with meds for depression and anxiety. Also said should look into durable power of attorney. Advice?

Is it too late if parent been suddenly diagnosed with mental illiness...Really upset that I was too stupid to realize that mom so sick hospital said she would be okay at home if she took meds...........Now she refuses to go to lawyer she says it is too late?

It's never to late! Tell her a white lie! Whatever it takes...You'll be doing it out of live for her... Good luck..

hospital had someone come to intensive care to talk her into signing MEDICAL POA.
I didn't realize how all this medical stuff can bite our butts and how attorneys are involved when you are so sick....I have been trying so hard to deal with medical issues just thought she would be getting better with meds...

If your mom can understand the concept of appointing someone to act on her behalf, it is not too late to establish Power of Attorney and Medical POA.
