Texas catheter..can you keep it on without the adhesives?

Not to be grose I just wondered about this as Im getting ready to start using thesew...I used to care for my brother in law and used them and they had a mean adhesive that left his skin raw after cleaning. I am going to try a new kind on my father who is 90 and theres a wrap around tape for it..i tried once before, but he sorta re-tracted out of..just wondered if I should just try try again.. thank you foor the previous responses of all of my other questions..
