Is there a list of "do's and don'ts" for caregivers of Alzheimer's disease?
Should there be a routine for daily events? Should they be taken to an area or event that is entirely foreign to them? Should furniture be moved around?
There's a book: The 36-Hour Day by Nancy Mace: A Family Guide to Caring for People with Alzheimer Disease, Other Dementias and Memory Loss....I bought the real book and the word were so tiny, I couldn't read it. If you have an IPad or ereader, I'd recommend downloading it.
If you're not into reading, there's some videos done by Teepa Snow. I've watched some of her videos in YouTube. It's done with short videos so that you can watch it and not worry about it being too long.
Depending on their stage, moving their things around Will result with them accusing you of stealing or touching their stuff. Crowd and noise also irritates them. Sometimes TV makes them angry because they think the TV is talking to them. Same applies with photos hanging on your wall or dresser.
No, you cann't be moving furniture around or taking them to differents events. I can see my mother how upset she gets when she moves her things around and Doesn't remember, blames me for doing it.
